Who I am

Federico Giannini

Federico Giannini

I was born in Penne, in Abruzzo, in 1976. I am a pupil of Daniele Benati, under whose guidance I obtained my degree and a PhD in the history of art. I improved my skills as a connoisseur thanks to numerous scholarships and post-graduate study experiences, among which I love to remember the two years I spent in Florence as a fellow at the ‘Roberto Longhi’ Foundation.

Since 2006, through conferences and seminars, I collaborate in the teaching activities of the chair of History of Modern Art at the "G. D'Annunzio ”of Chieti, and I held, from 2006 to 2012, the role of professor of the subject at the Leonardo da Vinci Telematic University.

Given the increasingly close cooperation with numerous Italian and international antique galleries - including the Salamon Gallery in Milan, for which I took part and sometimes edited the remarkable scientific publications, the Il Quadrifoglio Gallery in Milan, the Brun Fine Arts in London and the Galleria Fondantico of Tiziana Sassòli of Bologna - I later undertook mainly the career of the freelance profession, combining a constant scientific activity with the work of cataloging and research on the collections of important Italian collectors. Between 2013 and 2016 in particular I realized the volumes (carrying out the research and writing the texts) related to the prestigious collections of silverware and paintings of the Engineer Carlo De Benedetti.

Over the years I have collected a personal photographic archive of about three hundred thousand images of paintings from all the most renowned museums and collections in the world. Thanks to this archive I measure myself with the works that are gradually submitted to me by the clients. Upon request, I will therefore be responsible for identifying and correctly assigning the works, as well as for scientific filing work for them.

I therefore invite those who visit this site to send me photos of the paintings and objects for which a scientific expertise is requested of me. I will reply to all messages.
